Hi Frogs, Since I am going to give a course at this year's ESSLLI, I produced some lecture notes, which are available here: http://www.lix.polytechnique.fr/~lutz/papers/ESSLLI06notes.pdf I've tried to make them easy to understand and not too technical. But since I wrote them from scratch in less than 6 weeks, it is not as smooth as I planned. In the end I could not explain everything as detailed as I wanted because I was running out of time and space (I had only 100 pages maximum). Nonetheless, I appreciate any comments for improving the course. I surely will not cover everything that is in the notes, but I have not yet decided what to include and what to leave out. Ciao, Lutz
