Robert,
in my MSG 433:
The Rx audio and Tx audio are live when the radio is in PC mode.
You can build an adapter to plug into the radio and then plug the
PG-4y (programming) cable into it along with a speaker and electret Mic.
The pinouts are in the manual. Also in the FILES area is a doc with
the pinouts. Look for my call - Protocol doc.

New info added:
The audio which is live in PC mode is the normal Mic and speaker
[appropriately pre/de-emphasized].
AND
While I've never tried it, I believe the computer commands won't
work in TNC mode; only in PC Mode.
