Ted I too rate the F7e quite highly but It will depend on what you want to do with it. If you want to use it as a hand portable dual band two way then you may be disappointed and unfortunately it is nothing to do with the radio. I operated once or twice around Chinley (your county I believe?) and reception was so variable it became quite a sport to maintain a contact. Don't get me wrong... when they're good they're very good and there are quite a few repeaters but, with the terrain you have there you do seem to have rather more than your fair share of black spots. If you live high up then you're sorted, if not then prepare to go HF. Regards
