The Kenwood TH-F6A is an excellent radio. There is just about total agreement that it does many things well, and has a few shortcomings. I'm not sure that I would describe it as a good beginner's radio, but when you get the radio, if you will set it aside to charge the battery while you read the manual, you should be able to get a running start at how to operate it. It's a big manual, because there are many features, some of which you may never use, but many of which you will enjoy. Perhaps you can find someone in your area who is familiar with the radio and can answer questions. In the meantime, welcome to the list, and I hope you can learn something from the things posted here, as well as from some archived messages. Also, you may wish to take a look at my New User Tips for VHF/UHF Operation, which may save you some grief when your license arrives. http://www.accesscom.com/~dave6592/usertips.html 73 Dave WB6KHP San Jose -- dave6592 [at] accesscom [dot] com - http://www.accesscom.com/~dave6592 Dave Schultheis, San José, Silicon Valley, Santa Clara County, CA, USA ------------------------------------ |
