Subject: Re: GMRS bands Newsgroups: gmane.recreation.radio.hardware.kenwood.th-f6a Date: 2008-03-24 21:27:30 GMT (29 weeks, 2 days, 7 hours and 13 minutes ago) Sean, While no one here will judge you for what you post, be aware that actually doing this (using a TH-F6A for GMRS) will cost you more than a GMRS radio will if you get caught. Forfeiture Orders are generally in the thousands of dollars and very rarely less than several hundred dollars. On top of that, I can't seem to locate an active amateur license for you (by name or FRN) so, probably no use for the TH-F6A other than this GMRS idea that you present. With that said, you can get GMRS band cut antennas from several of the same suppliers that provide other antennas for similar radios. Some may need a short adapter but, almost any GMRS antenna (or properly tuned mobile antenna) will work. Could you please help us understand better your need for a Th-F6A on GMRS freqs so that maybe we could better assist you in meeting your needs? I, and some other members of this group, use both Ham HTs and GMRS handhelds and have some experience dealing with them both. I for one, and it appears others, are willing to help you succeed in your project but we're a bit confused as to the more specific reasons for your choice of radio given your licensing situation at present. SHORT ANSWER: Yes, grab a ham radio suppliers catalog (AES for example) and look around it. (In my latest AES, the GMRS stuff is near the back.) Longer Answer: Tell us more about why and we'll see what we can do to help you succeed!
