About Nexenta Core Platform (NexentaCore) ============================= Nexenta Operating System is a free and open source operating system combining the OpenSolaris kernel with GNU application userland. Nexenta Operating System runs on Intel/AMD 32/64bit hardware and is distributed as a single installable CD. NexentaCore is a minimal (core) foundation that can be used to quickly build servers, desktops, and custom distributions tailored for specialized applications. With the power of Debian tools behind it, NexentaCore could be customized for any vertical application or distribution: KDE, GNOME, XFCE centric Desktops, LAMP servers, Xen Dom0 ZFS-powered servers, and more. Unlike NexentaOS desktop distribution, NexentaCore does not aim to provide a complete desktop. The overriding objective for NexentaCore is - stable foundation.
