Thank you very much for your assistance.  I removed openldap-ssl-dev, 
and tried again.  The build went well past the point where it had 
failed before, but after 18 hours it failed because there was no more 
disk space.  The /sw/src/openoffice.org-1.9m97-3 folder is huge - 
over 37 GB.  (See attached screen shot).  How much free drive space 
should I need to install openoffice?  It seems that much of the space 
is need to build language files.  How can I disable all unneeded 
languages?

Openoffice is such a huge build that it looks like many users either 
won't have enough drive space to build it, or enough patience to wait 
for the build to finish.  Even though fink's policy is to only 
provide binaries for stable packages, perhaps there should be an 
official fink binary for openoffice, or it should be moved to stable 
immediately, to allow users to install the binary.

I'll keep using the binary I downloaded, unless I learn that the 
package has changed to reduce the amount of disk space needed, or 
unless I purchase another hard drive.
