Brendan:
Here's some UniAud feedback. It ain't good.
System is a ASUS 8N-SLI delux MB and a SB Audigy SE audio card. The MB
BIOS has been updated. O/S is eCS 1.2mr. The UniAud drivers are 114rc2.
UniAud recognizes the card by giving its SB number and assigning an
Interrupt.
UniMix.exe has been copied to \MMOS2 folder and UniAud.dll is in the
\MMOS2\DLL folder.
UniMix is pointed to by the SET PATH= statement in the Config.sys file
and the UniAud file is pointed to by the LIBPATH= statement also in the
Config.sys file.
Here is what I get when I try to turn up the volume on Device.
My input: UniMix -id1 -cnt1 -vol150.
The s/w answers: Set ID: 1, Count Value 1, Value: 150

Brendan I think some more work should be done on the unimix.exe because
what is displayed in -list is confusing. Take a look above, the second
argument in UniMix is -cnt1 but the answer that UniMix puts on the
screen is Count Value 1 (I think), then, to be even more confusing what
comes back from -list is Count of Values: 1. Then in -list you have
Value: for a heading and then you have value1: which may be referring to
Control 1 and again value 2: which may be referring to Control 2. But I
have no way of proving it.
I realize that you are doing the best you can. However if it were a
little bit more user friendly (understandable) perhaps we might have a
chance at convincing some Win users to give eCS a try.
Another problem is: nomatter which -cnt (1 or 2) argument I give with
the -val150, according to -list only "value 2" is updated to 150. Value
1: stays at 0.
There is no output! Not even in one channel.
I have not set any switches for UniAud16.sys or UniAud32.sys because
nothing in the .txt file explains their use. It would be nice if the
purpose for the two switches were explained in more detail so the user
will know what you mean.
Another thing that needs explaining is UniMixPM. What's it good for?
All I get when I click on the prog. is a little bar across the screen
with the name of the program. I tried to expand the bar but nothing
happens. The only good that I found was the ability to make this bar
disappear without having to re-boot.
Please keep in mind that you are not only giving this information to
English speaking people but to people of other nationalities whose use
and understanding of the English language is not the same.
A good example of this is GB. There everybody drives on the Left, so if
you want to get off the "Freeway" you go left, not right.
So it's a good idea to explain things in more detail for those who live
in other countries so they can come up with the correct answer.
Another example is with Germans translating from their language to
English.
When I'm going someplace I sometimes say "My goal is going to Hamburg"
but Germans will sometime say "My target is going to Hamburg" and for
that reason translators will always be needed.
