Subject: Rdp Sound in Vista [PATCH]

Hi,

i realized that when connected to a vista (RTM) system over rdp, the audio
redirection would not work. after a bit more of testing i also figured that

neither is the mstsc client able to play audio data when connected to a
vista
(RTM) machine. However only after the vista machine has SP1 installed,
mstsc
is able to play audio, but rdesktop client was still not able to play audio

unless we have a serial, printer, or disk redirection setup when we
establish
the connection.

To conclude i figured that unless the rdpdr channel is initialized vista
will
not give audio playback data.

Attached is a patch that initializes the rdpdr channel whether or not any
devices are being redirected. As a result of this patch audio playback
works
when connected to a vista (_w SP1) machine using rdesktop client.

As far as RTM version is concerned these guys (you know who) did the what
they
do best (screw up). So i don't think there is much that we can do to get
audio
playback working in vista (RTM).

Note: RTM == Release to Manufacturing

Regards
