From: Stephen Warren <swarren <at> wwwdotorg.org>
Subject: [PATCH V3] regulator: add MAX8907 driver
Newsgroups: gmane.linux.kernel
Date: Thursday 9th August 2012 20:24:34 UTC (over 4 years ago)
From: Gyungoh Yoo <[email protected]>

The MAX8907 is an I2C-based power-management IC containing voltage
regulators, a reset controller, a real-time clock, and a touch-screen
controller.

The original driver was written by:
* Gyungoh Yoo <[email protected]>

Various fixes and enhancements by:
* Jin Park <[email protected]>
* Tom Cherry
* Prashant Gaikwad
* Dan Willemsen
* Laxman Dewangan

During upstreaming, I (swarren):
* Converted to regmap.
* Allowed probing from device tree.
* Reworked the regulator driver to be represented as a single device that
  provides multiple regulators, rather than as a device per regulator.
* Replaced many regulator ops with standard functions.
* Added ability to specify supplies for each regulator.
* Removed the WLED regulator. If/when we expose this in the driver, it
  should be a backlight object not a regulator object.
* Renamed from max8907c->max8907, since the driver covers at least the
  C and B revisions.
* General cleanup.

This depends on patch "regulator: core: Use list_voltage() to read single
voltage regulators".

v3:
* Don't provide a get_voltage op for fixed regulators; rely on
list_voltage.
* Remove dependence on patch "regulator: add always set/clear masks to
  regulator_enable_regmap". Instead, only provide enable/disable/is_enabled
  ops for regulators where the HW is already in SW-controlled mode. If in
the
  future we need to select which regulators are SW-controlled, we can add
  platform data (and a DT property) to explicitly configure this. However,
I
  don't see a specific need to override the HW defaults right now.
* Explicitly assign indices to entries in max8907_regulators[] and
  max8907_matches[], since the code expect them to be in a specific order.
v2:
* Removed WLED regulator.
* Replaced list_voltage, set_voltage(_sel), get_voltage(_sel), enable,
  disable ops with standard regulator core functions.
* Got rid of struct max8907_regulator_info; everything we need now is
  part of the standard struct regulator_desc.
