I had been using -ck for some time and have been rather happy with
it for all the reasons mentioned over and over again on this list.

I had tentatively started using -rsdl since it started and I'm
observing I'm booting into it most of the time (choices are stock
SuSE kernel, current ck, current rsdl) and I don't see this
changing in the near future.

The reason is that indeed I have the impression the system is
less likely to freeze, if only for a few seconds.

Granted, with -ck I almost never have dropouts in amarok, regardless
what else I'm doing. But I do have the occasional "freezes" for
a couple of seconds when the system is under heavy load.

I have yet to play with nice'ing my "more important" processes but
judging from what others have posted I'm confident that with give
me all the responsiveness boosts I may require (for the very few
applications this is really needed).

Overall I'm a friend of simplicity provided it achieves (basically)
the same. This definitely is a strong argument in favor of rsdl.

For me the prime reason for coming to -ck in the first place was
finding something to enhance RT recording, reduce latency etc.
-ck does this very good. However it is my impression -rsdl has
the potential to do this even better provided I'll nice the
important processes accordingly (this is based on the assumption
that -rsdl is more predictable than -ck).

Therefor from my POV I think when given the choice of -ck and
-rsdl I will choose -rsdl.

Keep up the good work, best,
Michael
