Subject: /etc on a seperate slice Newsgroups: gmane.linux.gentoo.user Date: 2004-06-04 17:59:08 GMT (5 years, 4 weeks, 2 days, 21 hours and 26 minutes ago) I've just installed a machine with the following partition layout: /dev/hda2 /boot ext2 /dev/hda3 swap /dev/hda3 / reiserfs /dev/hda3 /etc reiserfs /dev/hda3 /var reiserfs When I boot the machine starts fine but it does not mount the /etc slice and stops when accessing the inittab file. I'm using a manualy built kernel 2.6.5 on x86, I do have dev file system in the kernel mounted at boot and ext2 + reiserfs support in the kernel. I'm sure I did this before without trouble. But to get the machine to boot now I need to copy the etc directory onto the root slice. How do I fix this? -- gentoo-user <at> gentoo.org mailing list |
