Hi all,
Thanks for the words of welcome to your new Internationalisation Lead
Many thanks to those who have already posted their status.
Could other team leads post their status as well, please?
And by all means, keep it coming.
If you have little to say, say it, it won't take you a moment.
If you have nothing to say, say so, it will take you even less time.
If you need help, do ask for it.
Please spare me the trouble of chasing after you.
I am still pondering on what to do formally with your reports, how to publish
them on a status page. Anyway, do send them. Any feedback (or requests) will
be appreciated.
About the French team and myself so far in 2004:
+ The handbook has been translated and is up2date for Gentoo 2004.0
+ Most docs have been translated/updated
+ Some are being reviewed for even stricter conformance to French rules and
French typography
+ I have done some XSL hacking to get a single-page handbook and localised
XSL-inserted words. It is now in production.
What's planned:
+ Fit in my new role
+ Some translations to review/make
+ Review lvm2 doc (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39305) and make it
refer to the handbook instead of the old install guide, some links will
probably need to be changed as well (Sistina has been acquired by RH).
+ I am considering adding a web interface to my ruby script to help compare
revisions with history log and update revision numbers (probably not in March
though).
Which brings me to the question of how you manage the list of docs, their
translations and revision numbers. As you probably know, I use a ruby script
to generate http://dev.gentoo.org/~neysx/trads-fr.html. The Danish team use it
as well but with a different XSL which gives a nicely different html. Others
use python or perl scripts. IMHO anything goes. I believe this kind of table
gives a nice overview of what is up2date and what is left to be done.
If you use such a scheme, could you post a link to let other teams have a look
at it?
Those I know of so far:
-fr: (see above), documentation is at http://dev.gentoo.org/~neysx/trads-doc.html
-da: http://gentoo-dk.berlios.de/sider/status.xml
-nl: http://dev.gentoo.org/~blubber/doc_nl.html
-de: http://dev.gentoo.org/~pylon/status-german-translations.html
-tw: http://dev.gentoo.org/~bennyc/progress.html
-pt_BR: http://doc.gentoobr.org/
If you feel that this might be of any use to your team, feel free to ask for
help to implement the solution you like best.
Any feedback most welcome,
Greetings
