I won't give up and am looking to fix the issue . As all conditions met your criteria like
no VAP creation before WDS etc., and moreover openwrt uses the stable version in their
source tree, I wonder how the problem exists.
 
All that I did is selected the required packages through menuconfig and finally built the
images.
