Considering that you have the problem, it should be checked. Maybe there are some scripts running in the background that create it. I tried loading ath_pci with "autocreate=none", and I still cannot reproduce your problem by executing exactly the same commands as you have posted. I also tried loading ath_pci with no parameters, removing ath0 and following your commands.
