Subject: Problem with no wifi0 appearing Newsgroups: gmane.linux.drivers.madwifi.user Date: 2008-08-31 11:46:22 GMT (11 weeks, 4 days, 21 hours and 39 minutes ago)
Dear All I'm having problems with using madwifi to configure a D-Link DWA-645. I am using Fedora Core 9 and using yum to install madwifi 0.9.4-1 from the livna repositories. I have run modprobe ath_pci and lsmod | grep ath_pci reports: ath_pci 80416 0 wlan 170060 1 ath_pci ath_hal 193232 1 ath_pci lspci in turn reports (not sure if it is relevant that I have an on board wlan card): 02:03.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04) 03:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5416 802.11abgn Wireless PCI Adapter (rev 01) dmesg reports: ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel. ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413) wlan: 0.9.4 ath_pci: 0.9.4 The problem I get is when I issue the command: wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta when I receive the error message: wlanconfig: ioctl: No such device My questions are: 1. Any ideas why wifi0 is not being created? 2. Am I using madwifi or ath9? 3. If it's madwifi will it work with an 802.11n card such as the DWA-645? Any help would much appreciated.
