Subject: Re: Cisco association with Atheros card (Madwifi v0.9.3.1) Newsgroups: gmane.linux.drivers.madwifi.user Date: 2008-08-29 07:14:50 GMT (12 weeks, 2 hours and 5 minutes ago) Thanks for much for your replies. 1] Does that mean you expect the Atheros Driver to cope with WPA w/o wpa_supplicant? What makes you think it can? A] What I wanted to mention was that with WPA Supplicant [same settings] the association with Cisco 1242 AG works perfectly, but if I use command based settings on Atheros card using Madwifi driver, it does not associate, Why? 2] You're only configuring the card for WEP encryption. A] Following are the settings I am performing on the Atheros card using madwifi commands wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta iwconfig ath0 essid Cisco11b [Comment: same as cisco] iwpriv ath0 mode 11g iwpriv ath0 authmode 1 iwpriv ath0 authentication wpa-psk iwpriv ath0 wpa 1 [Comment: For cisco and atheros WPA vaersion 1] iwpriv ath0 wpa 1 psk s:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA iwpriv ath0 keymgtalgs 2 iwpriv ath0 ucastkeylen 16 iwpriv ath0 mcastkeylen 16 Are these settings / commands enough or fine? 3] iwpriv ath0 get_wpa A] Yes this command shows the settings made to 1 / 2 etc 4] What are the additionals commands or settings I am missing? Is WPA Supplicant the ONLY solution for WPA / WPA2? Looking forward to your replies again ...
