Aaaaargh. My fault. I stumbled upon the wlanconfig wpa setting only
just now. Hopefully, someone else has more experience and can give
suggestions.

Nevertheless, I think much more relevant than the Cisco configuration
would be the steps the OP undertook to configure the Atheros card.
