I am trying to make some changes to the WiFi MAC. With regards to this, I wanted to know if such changes can be made in the MadWiFi driver or I wont be able to change it at all because the standard dictates it. Buy the way what I am trying to change is that base data rates (Basic hardware data rate) or the management traffic data rates. Currently on 802.11b/g it is set to 1 Mbps. I want to increase it to a higher value. I understand that this will result in a lower coverage range for the access point but I don't care about that so much.
