Subject: Build goes well until modprobe ath_pci Newsgroups: gmane.linux.drivers.madwifi.user Date: 2008-08-04 19:47:05 GMT (22 weeks, 3 days, 13 hours and 39 minutes ago) Hello, This is my first post. I have looked around for an answer but I am a beginner when it comes to madwifi. Hardware: IBM x31 Thinkpad with Proxim 8470-WD card. OS: Xubuntu 8.04 I downloaded the 0.9.4 tarball and followed the instructions for a newbie install. Make and Make Install both completed with no errors. When I issue the modprobe ath_pci command it just hangs there. I made sure to add DISABLED_MODULES="ath_hal" to the linux-restricted-modules-common file as mentioned here: http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Distro/Ubuntu Then I rebooted after that edit. After a failed install and a reboot I see this: dmesg | grep ath_ [ 31.517412] ath_hal: module license 'Proprietary' taints kernel. [ 31.519722] ath_hal: 0.9.18.0 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413) [ 31.682994] ath_pci: 0.9.4 And this: lspci | grep Atheros 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212/AR5213 Multiprotocol MAC/baseband processor (rev 01) But I have no wireless interfaces.
