You have to use the ath_hal kernel mod. Hmm, that's interesting, because with my Aspire One and the latest HAL I think it _does_ work for me with ath_pci, in managed mode. It's just adhoc mode which I haven't succeeded with yet! Thanks for the data point and config information, though :) I will have a look to see whether ath5k can be made to work with my kernel (Xubuntu 8.04.1 stock), and try that if so, that might be a good idea since the site mentions that ath5k is where the significant development effort is now going!
