According to the information I have, ath9k is intentionally ISC licensed, so that the BSD community may port the driver. > Also, where is the future of Madwifi? MadWifi has been declared legacy, and - apart from DFS - the madwifi.org team does have no plans on adding any major new features. With the release of ath9k chances for 11n-support in MadWifi decreased even more. On the other hand, there is also [1], where one of our team members (Benoit) stated that he currently considers to work on 11n for MadWifi, since his employer could benefit from this feature. Hope this helps. By the way, there is a dedicated mailing list for ath9k available, see [2] for details. That list might be better suited for most ath9k-related questions.
