Subject: Bug#227159: ocaml: license conflict in Emacs Lisp support? Newsgroups: gmane.linux.debian.devel.bugs.rc Date: 2004-01-11 15:03:05 GMT (6 years, 4 weeks, 2 days, 2 hours and 52 minutes ago) Package: ocaml Version: 3.07.2a-2 Severity: serious While looking for the invalid `if' form in caml-types.el, I noticed that the Emacs Lisp files of OCaml are "distributed under the terms of the Q Public License version 1.0". According to <http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2002/debian-legal-200211/msg00217.html>, RMS thinks "that a program that uses Emacs facilities needs to be GPL-covered". If RMS is right about this, then it would seem that these files cannot be distributed. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux Astalo 2.4.23-kon.astalo.1 #1 la tammikuun 3. 00:22:58 EET 2004 i686 Locale: LANG=fi_FI.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 Versions of packages ocaml depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libncurses5-dev 5.3.20030510-1 Developer's libraries and docs for ii ocaml-base [ocaml-base-3. 3.07.2a-2 Runtime system for ocaml bytecode -- no debconf information |
