Stovetop mac n' cheese

Here is a pretty good stovetop mac n' cheese
recipe. It is fast and easy to make. Try it
with one of the optional ingredients,
listed below.

4 oz elbow macaroni
2 Tbl butter
1 large egg
3 oz heavy cream or evaporated milk
1/4 - 1/2 Tsp Hot sauce
1/4 Tsp salt
black pepper to taste
6 ounces sharp cheddar (orange), shredded
grated nutmeg to taste (optional)
Dijon mustard about 1 Tsp (optional)
garlic powder 1/4 Tsp (optional)

Beat the egg, cream, Hot sauce, salt and pepper
together in a small bowl.

Cook macaroni in boiling water until al-dente
(about 8 minutes). Drain macaroni; Return it
to the pan with butter. Cook over very low
heat until the butter is melted. Stir in the
egg/cream mixture quickly. Throw in the
cheese by handfuls. Stir constantly until
creamy (2 to 3 minutes).
