Hawaiian BBQ sauce

Here is my new Q sauce, created specially for
smoked chicken and St. Louis ribs. It is
definitely a winner. The soy sauce may
be increased to 1 1/2 Tbl, but why tinker
with perfection?

16 oz. tomato puree
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white (distilled) vinegar
1 Tbl dark soy sauce
2 - 3 cloves of garlic, macerated into a paste
1 Tbl hot sauce
1/2 Tsp salt
black pepper to taste
3/4 cup of canned, crushed pineapple and juice

Place the above ingredients (except for the pineapple
and juice) into a non-reactive sauce pan. Stir to
combine. Bring the contents of the pan to a boil,
cut the heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Add the
crushed pineapple and juice. Simmer until relatively
thick.
