Subject: [ANNOUNCE] T2 @Live 2.2.0-delta "take the power back"
Date: Thursday 24th November 2005 08:14:20 UTC (over 12 years ago)
Hello, We are proud to announce the next revision of the "state of the art" Live-CD implementation based uppon T2: 2.2.0-delta "take the power back". Since the last release, fixes are: - hundreds of updates since based uppon T2 trunk:HEAD - modular X11R7 - GCC 4.0, GLibC-2.4-CVS, Linux-2.6.14 - NPTL instead of Linux Threads A lot more hardware configurations got added to the "officially supported / tested" list on the homepage and there are now companies using T2 @Live as base for their commercial products ,-)! The implementation is done as normal "target" withing the T2 version 2.2 framework. Thus: Anyone is able to easily compile his / her own live-cd for any T2 support architecture (nearly any supported by Linux) as well as alter the package selection as needed. This is a _major_ feature over stuff like Knoppix mostly based on vanilla Debian where usually just injected files are defined and remastering is another struggle for itself. The homepage: http://www.t2-project.org/live/ The download location: http://gsmp.tfh-berlin.de/ftp/t2/stable/2.2.0-beta/ The next releases will follow a bit less often (that is once a week or so instead of daily as over the last weeks): - graphical installer (finished, just needs to be integrated) - GNOME and XFCE variant - PowerPC version - one day SPARC, MIPS, too - al lot of tweaks and bugfixing based on testing and feedback sooner than later: - early userspace "bootsplash" to hide the textual details to average users Thanks to all the people working on T2 - forming it to the most advanced and flexible System Development Environment available.
