Subject: milestone schedule changes Newsgroups: gmane.comp.mozilla.devel.seamonkey Date: 2004-05-19 06:12:30 GMT (5 years, 6 weeks, 3 days, 21 hours and 53 minutes ago) Trying to align better with the needs of various Mozilla distributors and the Mozilla development community while cutting some of the costs associated with 4 releases per year, we're going to replace the current 3 month release cycle with a 20 week cycle. The new milestone plan will contain one additional alpha cycle and lengthen the alpha and beta cycles some giving us: alpha1 (6 weeks,) alpha2 (6 weeks,) beta (5 weeks,) and final (3 weeks.) We will spend some additional time on a release branch and will probably formalize at least one release candidate per final cycle. The branch time should normally be no more than a couple of weeks, but the trunk development cycle will be a full 20 weeks long regardless of the length of the branch. This plan will go into effect starting with the 1.8 cycle, so the alpha that's scheduled for this week will become alpha1 and the tree will soon open for 6 weeks of alpha2 development. Here's a quick sketch of what it looks like (I'll add the actual dates when I update the roadmap page): |
