Subject: Translate Toolkit 1.2.0 released Newsgroups: gmane.comp.misc.translate.devel Date: 2008-10-08 15:34:05 GMT (38 weeks, 4 days and 7 hours ago) New versions of the Translate Toolkit and of Pootle were released today. The announcement for Pootle is in a separate mail on the translate-pootle list (and the translate-announce list). Pootle and the Translate Toolkit are the leading Free tools for online localisation management and translation. This is a major new release of the Translate Toolkit, containing several new features and improvements. This is the version of the Translate Toolkit needed for Pootle 1.2.0. Important changes for upgrading from earlier versions are documented on the wiki at http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/important_changes Highlights: * poterminology (thanks to Alexander Dupuy). This is an amazing new tool for extracting high frequency terms from translations. * New converters: * po2rc and rc2po - Translate Windows/Wine .rc files using PO * ical2po and po2ical - Translate ical calendars * Format improvements: * Qt .ts (thanks to Torsten Martinsen) * Gettext .mo: we now support everything, including hash tables. * Quality checks (thanks to Alexander Dupuy and others) * Better punctuation and spacing rules * Support for language specific lists of valid accelerators keys * Support for omitting variables as required by Arabic and others * Improved indexing support, mostly for Pootle (thanks to Lars Kruse). Xapian and PyLucene 1 and 2 (jcc or gcj versions) are now supported. Xapian is tested most extensively. * Improvements to version control (thanks to Miklos Vajna, Lars Kruse, Daniel Schafer). Now with mercurial and author support. * Several bugfixes and speed improvements all over the toolkit. I'm really happy to see how many people contributed to this release, many of them mentioned above for the larger contributions. The team here at Translate.org.za put in a lot of work for this release, and I hope you will get huge benefit from it. The API documentation for the toolkit is available here: http://translate.sourceforge.net/doc/api/ The Translate Toolkit API provides a powerful platform for the development of localisation applications. The releases and accompanying documentation is available for download at https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91920&package_id=97082 Dependencies to run the translate toolkit 1.2.*: * Python (version 2.5 is the best tested version, but 2.3 and 2.4 should work fine). Please report if you still need support for version 2.3 as this might be dropped in future releases. Please report on your success with Python 2.6! * lxml is required for all processing of XML files (XLIFF, TMX, TBX). PO functionality might work without lxml. * pocount needs pysqlite. Python 2.5 includes pysqlite, but pysqlite2 needs to be installed if you are using an older version of Python. http://www.initd.org/tracker/pysqlite/wiki/pysqlite * python-Levenshtein is optional, but helps to speed up all activities that involve fuzzy matching, like pot2po (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91920&package_id=260161) * psyco is optional, but helps with performance (http://psyco.sourceforge.net/) Other dependencies of specific tools are mentioned in the README file. The 1.2 release is maintained in an SVN branch https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/translate/src/branches/Pootle-toolkit-1.2/ The live documentation is available on the wiki at http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/index Please report bugs at http://bugs.locamotion.org -- Recently on my blog: http://translate.org.za/blogs/friedel/en/content/virtaal-translation-editor-sake-language ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Translate-devel mailing list Translate-devel <at> lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/translate-devel |
