Subject: Request for help: ixp ethernet modules for 2.6.16-2-nslu2 Newsgroups: gmane.comp.misc.nslu2.devel, gmane.linux.debian.ports.arm Date: 2006-08-11 11:22:17 GMT (2 years, 46 weeks, 5 days, 2 hours and 51 minutes ago) I'm looking for someone who can produce working ixp ethernet modules built against Debian's linux-image-2.6.16-2-nslu2 (2.6.16-17) package. Beta3 of debian-installer will be released today and as with the last beta I wanted to prepare unofficial images which include Intel's Ethernet modules. Marcus Better has done some great work in the last few weeks creating packages from which modules can easily be built. Unfortunately, they don't seem to work - at least I get a long oops when I insert the module [1]. I spent all of yesterday trying to build my own modules but I get the same result. I tried upstream's 2.6.17.8, Debian's 2.6.16 and 2.6.17, the current and previous access library/Ethernet driver from Intel and a number of other things. I don't know what else I could try, but maybe someone else can investigate. Apparently it works for the SlugOS folks so that's probably a good starting point... If someone can produce modules which work (and which ideally have the microcode embedded in the ixp400 module rather than as a standalone file) I'll be glad to prepare updated debian-installer images which include the driver. Until then, I'm afraid that installations using the built-in Ethernet port are not supported - however, it works if you use an USB Ethernet adapter.
