Linux Professional Institute Hosts Exam Labs at SUSECon 2012

(Sacramento, CA, USA: August 23, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), will offer all of its
popular LPIC certification
exams at SUSECon, September 18-21, 2012, at the Caribe Royale Hotel in
Orlando, Florida (http://www.suse.com/events/susecon/).
 SUSECon is the
first annual global conference for SUSE customers, partners and
community enthusiasts. LPI will also participate in the openSUSE Summit
directly following SUSECon.

"LPI has a long history of co-operation and partnership with SUSE and we
are pleased to support both SUSECon 2012 and the openSUSE Summits in
Florida--both the first of their kind in North America. SUSE has been a
frequent supporter of our Linux certification program such that IT
professionals who earn our LPIC-1 certification are also eligible for
their SUSE Certified Linux Administrator certification," said Jim Lacey,
president and CEO of LPI.

LPI is offering the exams at a promotional rate of $99 per exam--except
for LPI-301 which will be $219. Details about the different exams are
available on the LPI certification web page
Exam labs will be offered at
9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21 at SUSECon and at 2 p.m. during the
openSUSE Summit. Both exam labs will be in the Grand Sierra Ballroom,
Room F of the Caribe Royale Hotel and each LPI exam takes approximately
90 minutes to complete. To ensure exam availability please register in
advance at [email protected] and indicate preferred exam
and time slot.

Exam candidates that successfully complete both exams (LPI-101 and
LPI-102) of the LPIC-1 certification are automatically eligible to
receive their SUSE CLA certification. For details please see:

To participate in the exam labs you must obtain an LPI ID at LPI's
registration area: http://www.lpi.org/register

On the day of the exam, candidates may make payment for their exams by
cheque 15 minutes prior to the exam lab. Otherwise payment can be made
in advance via Paypal. Exam candidates should bring their LPI ID and a
government issued photo identification to the exam lab.

Michael Miller, vice president of Global Alliances and Marketing for
SUSE, noted the upcoming opportunities for Linux professionals in the
future and the value of attaining LPI certification: "For people with
well-honed Linux skills and up-to-date training, the job market is
thriving — and the opportunities put Linux professionals directly in the
center of disruptive and exciting innovations that are changing the way
we work and live. SUSECon and openSUSE Summit are designed so attendees
can get the most value from their experience, which includes improving
their careers via the testing made available from the Linux Professional
