Subject: Howards trip to Germany... / onsite Tapestry training Newsgroups: gmane.comp.java.tapestry.user Date: 2004-05-17 16:34:01 GMT (5 years, 6 weeks, 6 days, 20 hours and 30 minutes ago) Hello tapestry-user <at> jakarta.apache.org, For all of you who wondered about Howards whereabouts in the last days here is the answer: This time it was us, startext GmbH (www.startext.de), who "hijacked" Howard to Bonn, Germany, for a 5 day onsite training. We are currently developing a web-based intranet-solution for one of our customers in the archive area. After some mediocre experience with JSP/Struts in another project we decided this time to use Tapestry and therefore thought it would be a good idea to "penetrate" Howard... The training included presentations on Tapestry and Hivemind, hands-on sessions and lots of Question&Answer. It was very impressing to watch Howard - equipped with not much more than a text-editor (o.k. he used Eclipse+Spindle) - to code, browse through docs and find right solution immediately. In many cases his "first try" code compiled without errors and immediately showed the expected result. We learned a lot, not only on Tapestry, but also on how to approach our problems and find solutions for our web-app projects. We barraged him with detailed questions, many involving client-side JavaScript related to our application. We never stumped him, and it was great to see his thought process as he worked out solutions, on the spot, for our most difficult questions. We're keeping all the sample pages he created as a detailed reference for when we encounter the same issues later. Best regards, Dominik Kreutz -- Dipl.-Inform.
