I think I first saw the story being trumpeted in the Guardian or somesuch, which is as EuroWeenie and leftist a rag as there is, and that kind of source is where the preponderance of the echo chamber on this story is, now. With the exception of the Colombian military denying it on Voice of America, anyway.
