RAH,
(French) Swiss TV "leftist" ?!? ROTFL!!
TSR (Television Suisse Romande) were indeed
the ones trying to discredit the extraordinary success
of this fabulous sting operation by claiming that the
hostages had in fact been "bought" by a $20 million
ransom.
These bozos simply can't seem to understand how
much a full blown military operation would have cost
for the same result, nor how much the alledged $20
million for briberies of some FARC members in order
to get the operation to be a complete success
("a perfect military operation" said Ingrid Betancourt
repeatedly) has saved Colombian taxpayers.
TSR's claim makes no sense at all, as about 60 FARC
guerrieros, armed with AK47 were surrounding the helicopter
when the 15 hostages boarded the aircraft in handcuffs...
NONE of them fired a shot, nor did anything to keep
the hostages from boarding the chopper.
They, and their commanders had simply been mystified!
The reason why the story hasn't been played big time by
the US media is probably due to the fact that US Officials
do not want the world to know that the 3 US hostages were
in fact *mercenaries* that had been hired by the CIA, and/or
the FDA for anti-drug ops, and were captured by the FARC
when their plane crashed in the jungle...
As usual, US official cowards had preferred to hire private
people for doing the risky job.
As for the France, Sarkosy, and the French media circus
on the case, my take is this:
If Ingrid had not been linked to the "Betancourt" family
(a multi-billionaire French family that owns most of Loreal),
NOBODY in France would have heard of the story either...

More to the point, the leftist EuroWeenie press is all on about how it
was actually not a brilliant sting operation done by Uribe &Co, but
that the evil rich Yanqui nortamericanos forked over $20m and bought
everyone's freedom.
Right.
Cheers,
RAH
