Otherwise Canadian bacon is purely a US terminology. Yes, that's trivia and no, I don't believe it's indicative of conspiracy. "Take-off" derives from one skit on comedy TV 25 years ago. It's not part of the colloquial. People don't actually say 1t in their speech, at least not since that TV show faded from memory. "Eh" is not really Canadian either. "Americans" will often use it the same way; in conversation to invite the listener to comment. Canadians (at least none that I have met) don't mispronounce the word about as a-boot. That's pure USA fiction. That might be part of the conspiracy. |
