The rocky mountains are a (large!) object, they exist and have reality. Here is a map showing the rocky moutains: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_mountains http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:RockyMountainsLocatorMap.png You can figure out for yourself where the "north" and "south" parts of the rockies are. In Usa, or certain parts of the Usa, the phrases "Northern Rockies" "Canadian Rockies" and "Canadian Bacon" mean certain things. I'm sure you know that in Canada, these same names are in fact not used to denote the same things. And indeed in the world at large, these same names are not used to denote the same things. Let's be more blunt instead of polite about it: the fact that some Usanians in some parts of Usa refer to the rockies in montana as the "northern" rockies is, simply, a bit silly. I can assure you that in the World at Large, the "northern rockies" means the part of the rockies in the north of the rockies, i.e., largely falling in canada. So, >I know you're not actually interested in a intelligent discussion, and >would rather just send out verbose, usually ignorant, hyperbole. the actual discussable facts at hand: (1) what is the geographical extent of the Rocky Mountains? ie, you may perhaps not believe that the rockies are thus: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e0/RockyMountainsLocatorMap.png (2) is it true that certain regions or nations use terms (such as "Canadian Bacon") that are only used locally in that region or nation? ie, you may perhaps believe that it is plain silly that Canadians, Italians etc call that stuff something other than "Canadian Bacon" eg, http://www.northernrockies.org/ http://www.northern-rockies-lodge.com/ etc. > >Viking Coder -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
