Ubuntu 7.04 works as well.

there is a glitch however, I might have mentioned it a long time ago. I 
have sudo set up to allow me passwordless root. Autopackage kept asking 
me for root password though and neither empty password nor my account 
password did the trick.

While Ubuntu most probably discourages this setup, it would be nice if 
autopackage were able to detect it or at least not ask irrelevant 
questions (the root account is not enabled, so I cannot have the root 
password).
